Range Call has become one of Meeker’s largest events to help celebrate our independence with our residents while attracting visitors from all around to Meeker! The annual Range Call Celebration began in 1938, but Meeker has had an annual rodeo since 1885. The Range Call board is responsible for planning the celebration every year. This requires a dedicated team of volunteers that spend August to July getting ready. The board must decide what band would be a good fit for the event, organize the professional rodeo, choose an extra event that is fun for the whole family, setting the dates for the event, and much more.
The board also coordinates with all of the sponsors and organizations who contribute to the variety of action during the event including: Concert, Rodeo, parade, Meeker Pageant, Meeker Bank Robbery Reenactment, Fireworks Display, Jon Wangnild Memorial Shoot, Milk Creek Battlefields tours and all the downtown vendors and fun activities. The board members commit to a monthly meeting, the 3rd Thursday of the month at 7 pm, to plan and organize the events. When Range Call rolls around, the board members are responsible for ensuring the event runs smoothly and people are having fun.
