Arlene Estes is “a real gem in this community!” As a lover of animals, Arlene grooms almost every dog in Meeker.

She also is a loyal and dedicated volunteer at the Meeker Classic Sheepdog Trials. She’s an integral part of the School Outreach program as a presenter.  She relates to the students well and shares her experience and expertise willingly.  When not helping with the school outreach program, you’ll find Arlene in the parking lot spending countless hours helping direct traffic – always with a smile.  She also volunteered all 5 days for the Cattledog Trials, offering to do what ever necessary to make things work.

This year Arlene was instrumental in bringing a new competition to Meeker. The National Association of Canine Scent Work offers “Nose Work”, a competition where dogs can test their scent detection skills in real-world settings. This event is held all over the country and Arlene suggested bringing it to Meeker, which resulted in 100 teams from 13 states participating. Additionally, she’s been a 4-H Leader for several years, helping with 4-H Dog projects and providing equipment for the kids to practice their agility on.  Arlene is a very caring, compassionate person and keeps tabs on folks in the community, checks up on them and gives all sorts of support to those in need.  Thank you Arlene!
