Meeker’s Citizen of the Month for May are Martha Cole, Marge Rogers, Janet Clark, and Ellen Reichert

These citizens are nominated for their endless dedication to our history and historic preservation.
BRIEF HISTORY: The RRR ladies (also known as the Rio Blanco County Rural School Research Committee with Rio Blanco County Historical Society), is mostly made up of retired school teachers who have been a driving, energetic source of action in our community since 2006!
Meeting weekly for eleven years, they have tediously researched the archived newspapers manually, page by page finding stories, historical facts and information to put together a narrative that is now published on a website and in Rural School Tour Loop brochures and available to the public.
Their dedication also led them to the major Historical Preservation project of restoring the Coal Creek School – the oldest in Rio Blanco County, in time to celebrate it’s 125 birthday in the fall of this year. Through endless fundraisers and collaboration with History Colorado, this dream is surely coming true!
Thank you Martha, Marge, Janet and Ellen for making Meeker a better place to live!
