Ellene Meece epitomizes volunteerism in Meeker! During her five year tenure as President of the Rio Blanco County Historical Society, she spearheaded various activities that pulled the society out of debt. She has been instrumental in establishing the Old West Heritage Culture Center, History Camp, Cowboy Poet Gathering, Jammin’ Lamb Festival and the Meeker Farmers Market.
She led the Old West Heritage Culture Center Committee through many accomplishments from the Strategic Plan, including architectural conceptual planning and fund raising to complete the first part of theater room renovations. She also helped to host numerous children’s activities, public historic presentations and community heritage education events.
Thank you Ellene for making Meeker a better place to live!
