Many Meeker citizens have been meeting and collaborating to understand and begin to apply the “Main Street” approach to revitalizing Meeker. We received notice that our application was accepted and Meeker is now officially part of this program! Thank you to all those involved. We are excited about our involvement!
The Lieutenant Governor will visit Meeker on August 17th to welcome us into the program.
Press Release:
DENVER – Thursday, August 4, 2016 – The Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) today announced that the Colorado Main Street® program has selected two towns as its newest Main Street® Communities. They are: Meeker and Windsor.
Acceptance into the Main Street® program signifies the communities’ commitment to downtown revitalization and historic preservation. The program advocates community self-reliance, local empowerment, and the rebuilding of central business districts based on their traditional assets of unique architecture, personal service, and local ownership. These two cities will join Colorado’s 18 other Main Street communities.
“The Main Street® program provides a comprehensive approach to downtown revitalization that includes economic development to attract new businesses, expand existing ones, and create jobs.” said Irv Halter, DOLA executive director.
DOLA manages the Colorado Main Street® program which is funded in part by a grant from the State Historical Fund. To learn more, visit: http://bit.ly/2aFY2iH
